The permanent technical committee concerned with the rules of origin at the League of Arab States recommended, during an exceptional meeting, which discussed one item only, to proceed with approving the acceptance of the electronic certificate of origin as part of efforts aimed at facing the circumstances of the current crisis caused by the consequences of the outbreak of the "Covid-19" virus.
The permanent technical committee for the rules of Arab origin held an extraordinary meeting for it, headed by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and with the participation of the delegations of the Arab member states, to discuss one item related to accepting the electronic facility certificate; The director of the Arab Economic Integration Department, Dr. Bahjat Abu Al-Nasr, stressed the importance of meeting in light of the exceptional and critical circumstances that the world and the Arab region are going through as a result of the consequences of the virus.
He also pointed out that at the end of the meeting, the committee recommended accepting the certificate of origin issued electronically, and the seal and signature are included electronically by the Arab countries, during the pandemic period, as long as it has the ability to verify the certificate data through the verification link on it for the official authority or any other e-verifications means, taking into consideration that the certificate of origin is in accordance with the approved form within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, and in accordance with the general provisions of the Arab rules of origin.
