President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the United Arab Emirates, Muhammad Thani Murshid Al-Rumaithi affirmed that the Federation of Chambers will reconsider his relations with countries that refuse to receive their nationals from workers in the private sector in the Emirates who took their vacations and want to return to their countries, stressing the importance of these countries being more flexible in dealing with its nationals, in addition to preserving the advantages and gains it has achieved thanks to its relations with the UAE private sector, and to continue this cooperation in the interest of all parties in the future.
Al-Rumaithi called on these countries to speed up taking measures to allow the return of their nationals working in the private sector in the Emirates who took leave under the current circumstance, and not to pursue a policy of intransigence not to receive them, as this will negatively affect the future of cooperation between the Federation of Chambers in the state and chambers of commerce in those countries.
Al-Rumaithi stressed the need for the countries that send workers to shoulder their responsibilities towards their nationals working in the UAE, who wish to return to their countries through the humanitarian initiative launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, in cooperation and coordination with the Emirates Identity Authorization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management, with the aim of enabling those residing workers in the private sector to return to their countries, through the precautionary measures taken in the country.
He revealed that the Federation of Chambers in the country will re-evaluate and study its relations with federations of chambers of commerce of countries that refuse to receive workers from their nationals, especially those that have joint agreements and memoranda of understanding and cooperation related to the exchange of information and investment opportunities, trade missions and the establishment of specialized exhibitions and joint business councils.
Al-Rumaithi added that the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the country stands with the private sector companies operating in the Emirates to protect their interests towards countries that refuse to receive their nationals to avoid aggravating the situation, and in a manner commensurate with the measures taken by the countries of the world regarding dealing with the economic repercussions of the current conditions.
