Rise of the Qatari Trade Balance Surplus

Qatar's trade surplus with Japan rose to $1.07 billion in July from $932 million in July 2018, registering a growth of 14.6 percent year-on-year, according to the Japanese Finance Ministry.

According to the data, the increase in the Qatari surplus with Japan came as a result of the increase in exports last July by 12.4% to 120.61 billion yen, compared to 107.32 billion yen in the same month last year. Qatar's imports from Japan last month were 6.99 billion yen, down 14.9 percent from July's 8.21 billion yen.

Qatar's trade surplus with Japan fell 5.5 percent to 672.09 billion yen in the first half of this year. The data showed that the value of the trade balance surplus of the Middle East with Japan in July amounted to 571.61 billion yen, down 18.8 percent, compared with the value in the corresponding month of 2018 at 703.60 billion yen.

Qatar's trade balance achieved a surplus of QAR 83.6 billion during the first half of 2019, which confirms the strength and durability of the Qatari economy. Qatar has strengthened its strategic relations with major and friendly countries, in addition to strengthening its economy and increasing self-sufficiency.
