The Qatari Commodity Trade Surplus increased by 6.6% year-on-year in December 2018.
According to data from the Ministry of Planning and Statistics, the trade balance in Qatar (the difference between total exports and imports) recorded a surplus of 15.9 billion riyals ($4.36 billion) last month. While the country's trade balance surplus was 14.9 billion riyals ($4 billion) in the same month of 2017.
The trade surplus fell on a monthly basis, 1.9 percent in December from 16.18 billion riyals ($4.4 billion) in November 2018.
The Qatari exports fell by 1.9 percent last month to 25.4 billion riyals ($6.97 billion), compared with 25.9 billion riyals ($7.1 billion) in the same month of 2017, according to the same source.
The trade balance showed that imports fell by 13.3 percent to 9.5 billion riyals ($2.6 billion) from 11 billion riyals ($3 billion) in December 2017.
