Qatar Forex Reserves Rise to its Highest Level

Qatar's foreign exchange reserves continued to rise to its highest level in nearly 30 months. Official data showed that Qatar Central Bank's reserve assets rose in October 2018 by 2.1% month-on-month to the highest level since July 2016.

International reserves and foreign currency liquidity rose to 176.23 billion riyals ($ 48.4 billion) last month, according to data published on its website.

Qatar's reserves stood at 172.48 billion riyals ($ 47.6 billion) in October. On an annualized basis, Qatar's reserves increased by 31.1 percent, compared with 134.4 billion riyals ($ 36.9 billion) in November 2017.

According to data published by the Anatolia News Agency, the reserve included 69.1 billion riyals ($ 19 billion) in liquid assets in foreign currency and 60.8 billion riyals ($ 16.7 billion) in foreign banks.

The country's gold reserves stood at 4.47 billion riyals ($1.2 billion), while investments in foreign securities and bonds amounted to 39.8 billion riyals ($10.9 billion).
