Jordan's tourism receipts rose approximatively to $5 billion in 2018, compared to the previous compelling end of the year-race, at $4.6 billion.
According to the Jordan Ministry of Tourism, tourism receipts reached JD 3.45 billion dinars (about $5 billion) from the beginning of the year until the end of November. The Country’s tourism revenues stood at $4.6 billion in 2017 and at $4.1 billion in 2016.
This increase was achieved thanks to the excellent performance registered in the tourism sector and thanks to the successive developments in the performance indicators of the tourism industry. Meanwhile, the number of tourists rose by 51.5% in European Countries, by 24.4%, in Asia and the Pacific, by 22.9% in America and by 21.6% in Africa.
With a population of about 9.5 Million and the Sahara covering about 92% of its land area, Jordan’s economy depends largely on its tourism sector, which accounts for about 14% of GDP.
