The Jordanian government approved the draft general budget law and draft budget law for government units for the fiscal year 2019, in preparation for submitting them to parliament for approval. The budget alone stands at $ 13.04 billion, with a deficit of $ 1.14 billion, before counting the grants and foreign aid.
The main feature of the draft budget law was that the public revenues were estimated at $ 12.14 billion, distributed by $ 11.29 billion for local revenues and $ 846 million for external grants. Expenditures were estimated at $ 13.04 billion in 2019, an increase of $ 616.17 million.
These expenditures were distributed by 11.29 billion dollars for current expenditures and approximately 1.75 billion dollars for capital expenditures, in addition to the possibility of implementing a number of capital projects in accordance with the principle of partnership with the private sector. The current expenditure increase was 33.3% higher than the recalculated level for 2018 as a result of the normal growth in the salaries of civil servants, pensioners in the civil, security and military services, the increase in allocations for cash aid/National Aid Fund, and the high allocation of medical treatments.
