Inflation in the UAE Rises 1.6 percent

Inflation in consumer prices in the UAE increased by 1.6 percent (110.4 points) in October, compared to the same month of 2017 (108.6 points), according to the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority of UAE.
The rise was due to the increase in the prices of clothing and footwear by 16.8%, transport services by 9.3%, entertainment and culture by 10.8%, tobacco prices by 8.3%, after the application of selectivity and value added taxes, while hotel and restaurant prices rose by 6%, home appliances by 5.8%, communications by 3.4%, education by 2.4%, food and beverages by 2.1%, and miscellaneous goods and services by 1.7%.
In contrast, housing, water, electricity and gas prices fell by 5.2% and health group prices fell by 0.16%.
