Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, the Union of Arab Chambers is organizing in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Ministry of State for Future Food Security in the United Arab Emirates, Federation of UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Arab Federation for Food Industries, the 6th Arab Conference for Investment in Food Security in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates During the period from 14 to 15 November.
The conference, which will be held this year under the theme "Smart Agriculture is a Promising Option for the Arab World," will be attended by a large number of officials of the host country, as well as Arab chambers and federations, leading Arab and international food security organizations, Arab and international funding institutions concerned, and Arab and foreign business owners and investors.
The two-day conference will feature six sessions and a dialogue session to draw inspiration from the experience of UAE founder Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May his soul rest in peace) and his contributions to food security. Whereas, the year 2018 “Zayed’s Year”, marks the anniversary of his 100th birth anniversary and to highlight his role in establishing and building the UAE.
The conference aims at highlighting the importance of investing in "smart agriculture" because it focuses on optimizing the use of agriculture for less land and less water to obtain the best crop production, making it a promising future for the Arab world to achieve sustainable agricultural production and to face problems of limited resources and climate crisis facing the agricultural sectors in Arab countries.
The conference will focus on food and water security within the framework of future strategies and visions of the Arab countries, the UAE's food security strategy, the policies needed by the private sector to invest in agricultural and water modernization and sustainability, and the Sudan project to transform Arab food security into reality. Trade and food safety within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, in addition to the promising investment areas in Arab food security, and the available funding requirements and opportunities, with a review of leading Arab and international experiences.
The conference will include a number of prominent Arab figures who have made contributions to Arab food security.
