The Council of Arab Economic Unity signed an agreement with Cairo University to develop a common Arab vision for the digital economy with the support of UAE, and the participation of international and Arab institutions and organizations in addition to a number of senior international officials specialized in the digital economy.
Mohammed Al-Rabee, Secretary-General of the Arab Economic Unity Council at the League of Arab States said "This project, which comes as one of the most important recommendations made at the Digital Economy Conference held recently in Dubai - United Arab Emirates, aims at developing the digital economy in the Arab region based on the technologies offered by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in a way to support economic stability in the Arab region and promote joint Arab action."
Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Chairman of the Federation of e-commerce, stated that "this Arab vision comes at an important time, as it represents a great opportunity for Arab Countries to make a leap in this domain." He stressed that "investing in the digital transformation will be very useful and attractive if directed to the Arab region market, which exceeds 400 million people.”
