Dr. Sami Al-Obaydi, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, met with Mr. Abdulrahim Naqi, Secretary General of the Federation of GCC Chambers, to discuss the prospective role of the GCC Federation, Chambers and private sector in supporting the development trends in the GCC countries, in view of the new economic vision adopted by the GCC countries.
The meeting also discussed the prospects of cooperation between the Federation and the Council of Saudi Chambers, with Saudi business sector serving as a representative and helping in enhancing the role of the Gulf private sector in economic development process in the Gulf countries. It will also help reviewing the agenda of the Federation of GCC Chambers during the coming period.
Dr. Sami al-Obaydi called for efforts to "strengthen the GCC Joint Economic Action and work on developing and maximizing the benefits achieved by the GCC countries in their path towards economic integration, and overcome the difficulties to find the appropriate solutions." He highlighted "the importance of holding consultative meetings with a number of Gulf Ministers, to discuss the issues and challenges of the GCC private sector, including those on labor market and taxes”. He insisted on strengthening the partnership between the GCC public and private sectors, activating the role of the private sector in economic affairs to enable it to participate effectively in economic decision-making.
