"Jordan has succeeded in achieving significant progress through 2017 and 2018 in the Doing Business report issued by the World Bank, scoring 103 out of 190 this year, progressing by 15 ranks compared to last year," said, Mary Kawar, Jordan's Minister for Planning and International Cooperation.
She added that, "Under these circumstances, Jordan has also been able to progress four ranks higher in the 2018 Competitiveness Yearbook, scoring 52 out of 63, as a result of the efforts from the Government's reform in areas related to Government Efficiency and Business."
The Global Competitiveness Report 2018-2019 is due in October and will include the following three chapters: Basic Requirements, Innovation & Development, and Efficiency Enhancement.
Kawar pointed out that "the Ministry of Planning follows up with the concerned authorities on the undertaken measures and provides the Presidency with periodic reports on the progress of work towards reforming the work system in order to improve Jordan's position in international indicators." The Ministry works to remove obstacles facing the private sector, particularly the legislation related to the facilitation and acceleration of Government’s transactions and procedures, such as the promulgation of regulations and instructions related to the adoption of economic laws, such as the insolvency law and the law on movable property.”
