The value of foreign direct investments issued and received in the UAE during the year 2017 amounted to about 117 billion dirhams, distributed over 32.3 billion dirhams attracted by the state and 84.8 billion dirhams the value of cross-border Emirati investments.
The UAE has attracted 298 foreign investment projects worth AED 32.3 billion, making it the first destination for investments in the Middle East and Africa, according to the Foreign Investment Report of 2018 issued by the Foreign Investment Division of the FDI Intelligence "The Financial Times." According to the report, the UAE accounted the biggest share of the foreign investment projects for 26% of the total number of new projects in the region in 2017.
The UAE witnessed direct foreign investments last year with a value of 32.3 billion dirhams, equivalent to 8.8 billion dollars, to be ranked third in the Middle East and Africa in terms of value of new foreign projects.
As for cross-border foreign investments, the UAE recorded AED 84.8 billion in foreign investments, equivalent to US $ 23.1 billion, making the UAE the largest exporter of foreign investments among the region's countries in 2017.
