The 15th Scientific Conference of ASFER

  • Beirut, Lebanon
  • 13 - 14 December 2019

The Arab Society for Economic Research holds its 15th Scientific Conference entitled "Arab Development between the Current Challenges and the Prospects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution" on 13-14 December 2019 at the headquarters of the Union of Arab Chambers in Beirut, Lebanon.

After almost seven decades of development efforts in Arab countries, the outcome is still disappointing to the hopes and aspirations of the Arab peoples. Many Arab countries suffer from external conflicts, divisions and interventions, most of which suffer from various economic instability, and even those few Arab countries that have maintained reasonable rates of economic performance thanks to their natural wealth. The risks of sustainability are increasing day by day. Therefore, it is important that the Arab economists should study the outcome of Arab development (the return of achievements and failures) for more than half a century, and meet the challenges of the current moment in the light of security, stability and reconstruction considerations, as well as discussing the outlook for the Arab economy from the perspective of opportunities and threats imposed by “the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, and the relatively long-standing issues of Arab economic security.
