WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has warned of the negative consequences of rolling back free global trade.

She pointed out, "It is not right for a 90 percent product to be produced in one place, and for everyone to depend on this. Rather, we must reduce concentration in some places; but we do not want to see a change in investment behavior that shows that trade is no longer closely interconnected."

Okonjo-Iweala stressed, "The consequences may not be very clear at first, with the return of industrial activities in some countries, but with the passage of time, the loss of competition will be felt due to high prices and costs."
