Arab Economic Review Issue 33

We have the honor to issue the 33rd issue of the quarterly economic newsletter for the first quarter of 2017, which includes five specialized economic researches dealing with new and diverse issues and topics in the Arab and international economy. The analysis deals with the new agreement between Jordan and the EU to simplify the rules of origin and the current crisis in the exchange rate The Egyptian pound, research and development in the Arab world, and the opportunities to establish shipping and logistics companies between the Arab and South American countries, as well as developments in the Indian economy and Arab-Indian relations.


The first study, entitled "How Jordan and the Arab States, particularly Egypt, benefit from the Simplification of Rules of Origin between Jordan and the EU?", Details the possible benefits of the new agreement signed between Jordan and the EU to simplify the rules of origin of both Jordan and Arab countries , Particularly Egypt, where difficulties in complying with previous rules of origin were a stumbling block to Arab exports to the EU.

The second study analyzes the effect of the differences in the exchange rates of the Egyptian pound on the Egyptian economy and the different dimensions of the recent crisis in the exchange rate of the Egyptian pound, in order to draw conclusions on policies and measures to overcome the crisis.

The third study examines the unique situation of India under the title «India is a unique case in the global economy deserves more attention from Arab countries», with the remarkable rise in the global economy in light of the decline in most major global economies, in order to identify and determine the elements of success and draw lessons and areas Cooperation to develop economic relations between India and Arab countries.

The fourth study, "National Strategies and Legislations to Support Research and Development and Funding Research: Reality and Future Vision", outlines the pillars of national strategies and legislation in the Arab world to support research and development and to provide the necessary funding.

The fifth study presents an economic study and analysis of economic and trade relations between the Arab and Latin American countries in order to assess the requirements of establishing two shipping and logistics companies between the two groups, entitled "Economic & Maritime Trade Relations between Arab & South American Countries (ASPA) The feasibility of establishing Maritime & Logistics Companies between the two Regions ».

We hope that these contributions, which highlight important issues for the Arab economy, will receive attention from the Arab business community and economic decision makers. We hope that the year 2017 will be a good start for the Arab nation to overcome the crises and difficult situation experienced by a number of countries.
