Jordanian House of Representatives Approves 2019’s Budget

The House of Representatives approved the budget of the year 2019, with a size of expenditures amounted to 13 billion dollars, and an expected deficit of about 910 million dollars.

The Council approved in a public session the Kingdom's budget for 2019, with a total expenditure size estimated at 9,255 billion dinars, equivalent to (13 billion dollars).

The budget was approved by a majority of 60 deputies out of 105 who attended the seventh session devoted to discuss the draft budget, which deficit is estimated at 646 million dinars ($910 million), according to "Agence France Presse."

The Jordanian government headed by Omar Razzaz approved the draft budget on November 28, and referred it to the House of Representatives.

The Kingdom suffers from difficult economic conditions and public debt exceeding $40 billion, or 94 percent of GDP. According to official figures, the poverty rate rose by the end of 2018 to 20 percent and the unemployment rate to 18.5 percent.
