Chris Rampling, British Ambassador to Lebanon, accompanied by the Embassy's Trade Department head, Paul Khawaja, and the Embassy's Second Secretary Natasha Stotesbury, visited the headquarters of the Chamber in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, where they held a meeting with the President of the Lebanese Economic Bodies and the President of the Federation of Lebanese Chambers, Mr. Choucair. They discussed ways to accelerate economic relations and enhance cooperation with the private sector in both countries. They also tackled the subject related to the departure of Britain from the European Union and the measures to be undertaken in this context.
Mr. Choucair praised the British Economic position in the world, pointing out, "The private sector in Lebanon is keen on strengthening the bilateral cooperation, and developing the trade exchanges as well as benefiting from the available investment opportunities. But also and most importantly, to provide the private sector and Lebanese companies from the experience and modern technology adopted in Britain on more than one level.”
For his part, Ambassador Rampling discussed the strong historical relations between Lebanon and Britain, which span decades in the field of economy and education, pointing out "We have many opportunities to strengthen trade relations and cooperation among ourselves. We have several British companies in Lebanon that have been successful and we can build on them to find other opportunities for cooperation."
