A Greek delegation headed by Georgios Katrougalos, Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister in Greece, along with representatives of the Chambers, Federation of Business Enterprises and 25 Greek businessmen, visited Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut & Mount Lebanon where they were received by the Chairman of the Lebanese Federation of Chambers, Mohammad Choucair, and a number of Lebanese economic Leaders.
Mr. Choucair welcomed the Hellenic delegation and stated, "the reception of a delegation of businessmen at this level reflects a real interest in the development of economic relations between the two countries," and he added, "despite the strong ties between Lebanon and Greece, there are more measures that can be taken to create real partnerships on different levels.” He noted, “trade figures are still lower than our aspirations, and no initiative has been taken yet to improve these figures and identify sectors of common interest."
Choucair also remarked, “with the issuance of the Public Private Partnership Law and the support of CEDRE which provides about $12 billion to invest in Lebanon's infrastructure, Lebanon will witness a qualitative economic development with the initiating of these projects,” calling upon Greek businessmen to explore these opportunities and to form strong partnerships with their Lebanese counterparts.
