Russia's “RIA Novosti” agency has estimated that the West will lose at least $288 billion in assets and investments if it confiscates frozen Russian assets to help rebuild Ukraine.

The agency cited data showing that direct investment by the European Union, the Group of Seven, Australia and Switzerland in the Russian economy amounted to about $ 288 billion at the end of 2022, of which the European Union countries have $ 223.3 billion of assets, of which 98.3 billion are officially owned by Cyprus, 50.1 billion for the Netherlands, and $ 17.3 billion for Germany. It revealed that the top five European investors in the Russian economy are also France with assets and investments worth $ 16.6 billion, and Italy with $ 12.9 billion. Among the Group of Seven countries, Britain is ranked with British assets in Russia worth about $18.9 billion.
