The Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Senator Khalil Haj Tawfiq, participated in the meeting held by the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II at Al Husseiniya Palace, in the presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, representatives of the Jerusalem Endowments and Churches Councils and Jerusalem figures.
In their speeches, a number of attendees spoke of Jordan's important role, under the leadership of His Majesty, in standing by the Palestinian people and supporting their steadfastness on their national soil. The speakers stressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in caring for these holy sites, and stabilizing the status quo.
His Majesty hosted an iftar banquet, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Hassan al-Essawy, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammed al-Khalayleh, and Director of General Intelligence Maj. Gen. Ahmed Hosni. It was also attended by the Chief Justice His Eminence Dr. Abdul Hafez Al-Rabta and the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Hasanat, the Imam of the Hashemite Hadra Dr. Ahmed Al-Khalayleh, the President of the Council of Heads of Churches in Jordan Bishop Christoforos Atallah, the Bishop of the Latin Patriarchate in Jordan Bishop Iyad Twal, the Jordanian Ambassador to Palestine Issam Al-Budoor, a number of officials, and the delegation accompanying the Palestinian President.
