In keeping with the activities of the COP28 climate conference, hosted by the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the Union of Arab Chambers is organizing in cooperation with the League of Arab States, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, the Arab Federation for the Digital Economy, and the Office UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion – Bahrain, workshop on “Arab Food Security and Sustainability”, at the Arab League Pavilion (Blue Zone) – Dubai, on December 10, 2023.
Objectives:
The workshop will be held, as a follow-up to the results of the Arab Food Security Conference and Exhibition “Food industries and their role in achieving food security”, which was organized by the Union in the city of Marrakesh, Kingdom of Morocco, on October 2 and 3, 2023, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and with the participation of chambers and federations of Arab chambers. And specialized Arab and international organizations.
The workshop aims to:
- Reviewing modern technological alternatives available to make agriculture and food systems more sustainable.
- Promoting and encouraging agricultural investments and smart food manufacturing.
- Climate change and water scarcity and their impact on sustainable development, adopting innovative technologies and practices for sustainable agriculture and water management, highlighting success stories in green investment and smart agriculture, in addition to introducing the “Arab Food Market” platform.
The workshop will address the following topics, in which specialized experts will speak:
Opening session:
- Opening of the workshop, speech by the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers
- Speech by the League of Arab States
Workshop topics:
- Benefiting from the Fourth Industrial Revolution and making it a Fourth Agricultural Revolution using artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
- The initiative of the Arab Authority for Planning the Deficit of Food Commodities in the Arab Countries.
- Use modern irrigation technologies and properly manage water sources.
- Developing supply chains, transportation and logistics to facilitate the arrival of the product from the farmer to the consumer.
- The “Arab Food Market” platform to introduce Arab products and facilitate the establishment of partnerships.
- Encouraging the Arab private sector to establish investment partnerships in the agricultural sector within the framework of Arab economic integration.
- Success stories from entrepreneurs in the field of smart agriculture.
