Consumer prices in the US rose less than expected in May, as President Donald Trump's tariffs had little impact on inflation, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a broad measure of goods and services across the sprawling US economy, rose 0.1 percent during the month, bringing the annual inflation rate to 2.4 percent. Excluding food and energy, the core CPI rose 0.1 percent and 2.8 percent, respectively, compared to expectations of 0.3 percent and 2.9 percent.
