Chipmaker NVidia plans to build up to $500 billion worth of artificial intelligence infrastructure in the U.S. over the next four years through companies including Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Co., Ltd. (TSMC).
The announcement comes as a growing effort to bring manufacturing and the technology supply chain to the United States, with Washington imposing hefty tariffs on imports.
The Trump administration has backed away from plans to restrict exports of water-powered AI chips from NVidia and opened a new door to China. The change in plans came after NVidia promised the Trump administration new U.S. investments in artificial intelligence data centers.
