Eurozone inflation accelerated slightly in January but remained on an expected path that could allow the ECB to cut interest rates further.

Consumer price inflation accelerated to 2.5 percent in January from 2.4 percent in December, according to Eurostat.

Price growth, excluding food and volatile energy, was unchanged at 2.7 percent, and the closely watched services component, the single largest component of the consumer price basket, fell to 3.9 percent from 4.0 percent.
