Morocco's Unemployment Rate Increased to 13.3%

Morocco's unemployment rate rose to 13.3 percent in 2024, up from 13 percent in 2023, as jobs in the agricultural sector continued to be lost due to drought.

According to the High Commission for Planning, by the end of 2024, the number of unemployed people in Morocco reached 1.63 million out of a total population of 37 million, as the agricultural sector lost 137,000 jobs after Morocco was hit by drought for the seventh consecutive year.

The youth unemployment rate was higher at 36.7 percent compared to 35.8 percent last year. Among university graduates, it was 19.6 percent. Among women, it was 19.4 percent, compared to 19.7 percent and 18.3 percent, respectively, the previous year.
