Jordan's King Abdullah II issued two decrees dissolving and restructuring the Senate, headed by Faisal al-Fayez.
The formation witnessed the entry of representatives of trade through the appointment of the President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, as members of the new Senate. The female element was present through the presence of ten women.
Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq holds many positions and positions, having been chosen as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce since December 2022, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jerusalem Empowerment Fund, the head of the Syndicate of Food Traders since August 2021, the Chairman of the National Association for Economic Activities, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Higher Council for Science and Technology.
The Senate is the second chamber of the National Assembly, which also includes the House of Representatives, forming together the legislative branch. The Jordanian Senate consists of a number not exceeding half the number of the House of Representatives (the first chamber of parliament and the number of seats is 138), including the speaker of the Senate, and the members and the president are appointed directly by the king, and the term of the presidency of the Senate is two years, and may be extended for a second term. The membership of the Council is for a period of four years, and the King may reappoint those whose term of office has expired in the new Council.
