Qatar Chamber Launches GCC Economic Integration Initiative

Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani stressed the importance of the role played by the Federation of GCC Chambers as the official representative of the Gulf private sector, pointing to the importance of holding a consultative meeting between their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce and Industry and their Excellencies the Chairmen of the Council of Federation and Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Gulf Cooperation Council to discuss mechanisms to promote economic growth in the GCC countries and enhance economic cooperation and integration among member states.

In his intervention during the consultative meeting, he pointed out that the consultative meeting, which comes in implementation of the directives of their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), to support the private sector and enhance its pivotal role in the comprehensive development process witnessed by our countries, reflects the keenness of the wise leadership of the GCC countries to discuss all issues and issues related to deepening economic and trade cooperation among the GCC countries.

He stressed the Qatar Chamber's aspiration for more cooperation with the federations and chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, more cooperation and partnership between the Qatari private sector and its counterpart in the brotherly Gulf countries, and strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors in the GCC countries. He reviewed the "Made in the Gulf" initiative, which is an initiative launched by the Qatar Chamber, which aims to promote economic integration for industrial development, maximize the benefit of the positive mental image of the products of the Gulf countries, support the increase of joint projects between the Gulf private sector or between the government and private sectors, in addition to exploiting the economic zones in the GCC countries, which amount to more than 60 zones.

He said that the initiative contributes to achieving the Gulf trends to reach economic citizenship, accelerating the process of exchanging goods at customs ports for Gulf products, encouraging local and foreign investments in the industrial sector, and raising the efficiency of the special economic zones in the GCC countries.
