The number of foreign tourists coming to South Korea reached 889,000 in April, up 595 percent from the same month last year.
Tourist numbers have recovered to 54 percent from what they were in the same month of 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic, according to data from the Korea Tourism Organization. According to the countries, Japan came in first place in terms of the number of tourists, with 128,000 Japanese tourists arriving in South Korea, an increase of 5,651 percent. The number of American tourists reached 109,000, up 252 percent, with the United States in second place, followed by China with 106,000, up 936 percent over the same period. Taiwan came in fourth place with 77,000, Thailand with 54,000, and Vietnam with 41,000.
