The number of visitors to Qatar increased by 14.3 percent

The Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority revealed that the total number of inbound visitors reached about 389,000 visitors, a monthly increase of 14.3 percent (from January 2023). It also increased annually by 406.3 percent (from February 2022). The largest number of visitors from the GCC was 38 percent, while in terms of visitors by type of port, visitors by air accounted for the highest percentage with 44 percent of the total number of visitors. The bulletin showed that the value of the broad money supply (2) increased by 11.3 percent year-on-year to about 702 billion riyals, compared to the same month of 2022. While the value of quasi-cash, which includes commercial bank deposits, reached about 950 billion riyals during February 2023, recording an annual decrease of 1.5 percent compared to February 2022, when the total deposits were about 964 billion riyals.

The total public sector deposits with commercial banks amounted to 321.5 billion riyals, a monthly increase of 1.8 percent, and an annual increase of 15 percent compared to February 2022. Private sector deposits stood at 453.13 billion riyals, down 0.8 percent month-on-month, and up 8.2 percent year-on-year. Non-resident deposits stood at 175.5 billion riyals, down 6.4 percent month-on-month and 34.1 percent year-on-year. The CPI of February reached 105.34 points, a decrease of 0.06 percent compared to the previous month of January 2023, and an increase of 4.41 percent compared to the corresponding month (February) of 2022.
