The President of the Union of Arab Chambers, President of the Federation of UAE Chambers, Abdullah Muhammad Al Mazrouei, stressed the "importance of strengthening cooperation and trade and economic integration between Arab countries."
This came during the meeting of the 132nd session of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Chambers, which was held at the headquarters of the new Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, in the presence of the heads of the Union of Arab Chambers and members of the Board of Directors, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, the First Vice-President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Mohamed Al-Masry, and the Secretary-General of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Dr. Alaa Ezz.
Al-Mazrouei extended his thanks and appreciation to the President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Arabi, for hosting the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of the 132nd session of the Union of Arab Chambers. It also reviewed the agenda of the new session. He briefed the members on the decisions and recommendations of the previous session (131) of the Council, which was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In addition to reviewing the recommendations of the Financial and Executive Committee, which were held at the headquarters of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers.
In turn, the First Vice-President of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Mohamed Al-Masry, welcomed the President and members of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Chambers, and informing them of the welcome and appreciation of Engineer Ibrahim Al-Arabi, President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, of their supervisory presence on the land of Egypt and the headquarters of the Federation.
He stressed "the importance of activating the work of the joint Arab-Foreign chambers to activate the movement of trade and economic cooperation between Arab and Foreign countries, especially in the production and manufacture of machinery and raw materials between Arab countries, especially since Egypt imports about 72 percent of its total imports of raw materials and intermediate goods." Considering that "industrial integration will deepen the principle of sufficiency in what Arab countries produce in terms of machinery and equipment, especially since there are Arab countries that have huge potential, so that we have a great economic power."
Al-Masry called for "the importance of reviving the idea of linking Arab ports together, especially for multimodal transport such as sea, air and land in one entity to facilitate the movement of entry and exit and the exchange of goods between Arab countries."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, reviewed the activity of the Union and the General Secretariat of the Union during the year 2021. He also reviewed the work plan of the Council and the General Secretariat during 2022. Pointing out that "the Union, through the General Secretariat, continued to strengthen communication between economic entities regionally and internationally, and to modernize and expand its network of relations with the concerned economic parties in support of the Arab economy's."
He added: "The Union organized many forums, symposia, virtual and in-person workshops, in cooperation with the League of Arab States, in addition to the participation of the General Secretariat in the meetings of the boards of directors of the joint Arab and Foreign chambers."
