Jordan's Trade Deficit is Down by 22.7%

The Jordanian trade deficit decreased by the end of August of this year by 22.7 percent, to reach 4.076 billion dinars, compared to the corresponding period of last year, which amounted to 5.272 billion dinars.

According to the monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics, the value of total exports decreased by 5.1 percent, to reach 3.630 billion dinars, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 3.825 billion dinars. The value of national exports also decreased by 1.0 percent, or 3.232 billion dinars, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 3.236 billion dinars.

According to the report, the value of re-exports amounted to 8.398 million dinars at the end of August of this year, a decrease of 32.3 percent, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 589 million dinars. As for imports, they decreased by the end of August of this year by 15.3 percent, amounting to 7.707 billion dinars, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 9.098 billion dinars. On the monthly level, the value of national exports to Jordan increased in August of this year by 9.2 percent, reaching 492.7 million dinars, compared to 451.3 million dinars during the same month last year.
