Discussions between UAC and the Federation of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry

The Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, during his visit to the Austrian capital Vienna, met the President of the Federation of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry Dr. Christoph Little, in the presence of the President of the Arab Austrian Chamber of Commerce AACC Dr. Richard Schenz, and the Secretary General of the Chamber Eng. Mudher Khoja.

During the meeting, they discussed the prospects for economic, cultural and scientific cooperation, and it was agreed to organize many bilateral events and to issue joint economic reports and publications.

Dr. Khaled Hanafy expressed the interest of the Union of Arab Chambers in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of digitization and information and communication technology, in addition to the logistics and transportation sector, in addition to activating cooperation in the field of supporting startups, small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurship.

For his part, Dr. Christophe Little pointed out the necessity of cooperation in the field of digitization and sustainability, small and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurship, in addition to education and training, with an emphasis on the importance of the role assigned to the private sector in this regard.

The possibility of holding joint economic conferences and meetings was also discussed throughout this year, the results and recommendations of which are presented to policy makers and official officials through the organization of a joint European-Arab summit. The idea of organizing an important event between the Union of Arab Chambers and the Federation of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry was proposed during the first quarter of 2021 on the sidelines of Expo2020 activities in Dubai.

In this context, and in order to maximize cooperation between the Arab, European and Joint Chambers, it was agreed to draft a memorandum of understanding to be signed between the Union of Arab Chambers and the Federation of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry at the latter's headquarters in Brussels.
