The Union of Arab Chambers signed a cooperation agreement with the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry to organize the Seventh Arab Conference for Investment in Food Security, which will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Ras Al Khaimah on 17-18 December 2019 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council & the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah Emirate.
The conference will be organized by the Union of Arab Chambers and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ras Al Khaimah in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of State for Future Food Security, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the United Arab Emirates, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, And the Arab Federation for Food Industries, with the participation of the Arab Chambers and their federations, the leading Arab and international companies in the field of food security, organizations, federations and concerned Arab and international financing institutions.
The conference will be held under the theme "Investing in Technology and Ending Waste for Sustainable Food Security in the Arab World." This is a continuation of the previous six conferences held by the Union of Arab Chambers in its ongoing efforts to enhance the role of the Arab private sector in investing in Arab food security based on concepts and modern technology, and the dynamism of the private sector and its ability to keep abreast of advances in sustainability and technology to enhance production and food safety.
In this context, HE Mohammed Ali Musabah Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted the signing of the Cooperation Agreement with the Union of Arab Chambers, thanking His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council - Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, for his generous patronage for the 7th session of this conference to be held in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, in the light of the economic development that it witnessed and the significant progress achieved in the industrial, agricultural, commercial and civilizational fields in various facilities."
“The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has significant agricultural, livestock, fisheries and food processing characteristics thanks to its fertile agricultural soil, advanced industrial base and strategic location at the entrance of the Arabian Gulf and its advanced network of transportation, which enables it to play an important role in the diversification of agricultural production and marketing in the UAE, in addition to its importance as a major logistics hub for manufacturing and marketing in the Arab world,” said the Chairman of RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, praised the role played by RAK Chamber of commerce and industry, stating that "the Arab world is facing many challenges because of the scarcity and decline of its natural resources, together with the growing demand and the increasing waste practices, and because of this reality there is no longer a choice between traditional methods and modernity. The only choice in front of the Arab world today is to adopt sustainable farming methods and take advantage of modern technologies and smart farming techniques made available by agricultural technology and the fourth industrial revolution to deal with the challenges of climate and limited resources and the promotion of production and efficiency properly.”
Hanafy wished to open more horizons for projects to use technology and modern discoveries and their economic applications in order to modernize the agricultural sectors in the Arab countries.
