Improvement of Lebanon's Performance in Emerging Markets

According to “Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.”, Lebanon recorded an external debt return ratio of 3.28% in April 2019, meaning, the second highest return on external debt among 77 emerging markets included in the ICE's External Debt EM Sovereign Index in April.

Lebanon was also the second highest among 28 countries in the MENA Region and 45 in the Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Lebanon's performance progressed on the emerging market performance, with a return of 0.07% in April 2019, and the performance of the countries rated "B", which amounted to -1.35% in that month.

Meanwhile, Lebanon recorded a return on foreign debt of 6.77% in the first four months of 2019, ahead of the performance of emerging markets with a return of 5.63% in the period covered. Lebanon also recorded the 19th highest return in the Middle East and Africa, and the 24th highest in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the top 41st among the emerging markets in the first four months of 2019.
