The World Bank has announced the provision of $2 billion in financial support to Jordan to help it complete the course of the economic reforms in the coming period.

The bank will provide Jordan with $1.9 billion worth of facilities for the current and next years, equivalent to its support over the past five years as a result of the government's acceleration of economic reforms. The move comes days after Jordan presented its economic crises and hopes to get out of at the Donors’ Conference in London.

Kristalina Georgieva, the first Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank confirmed in an interview that "the bank is committed to a strong partnership with Jordan, where the momentum of the reforms is very strong and the Bank will continue to commit to financially support Jordan over the next two years, based on the reforms it will implement."

Georgieva stressed that the "financial support will be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors at the time, in which reforms are progressing steadily in the Kingdom."
