The Sixtieth Edition of the Arab Economic Bulletin Includes Three Pivotal Studies in Arabic and Two Studies in English.

It addresses issues that are pivotal to Arab development in light of the historical transformations that the Arab region is going through and the challenges it faces on the way to reform and enhancing economic efficiency. This allows the Arab economy to join the ranks of developing countries that have created an influential position for themselves in the global economy.

The first study is titled: “Small and Medium Enterprises and Entrepreneurship... A Tributary of Economic and Social Development and a Catalyst for Technological Innovations in the Arab World,” the study sheds light on the reality of small and medium enterprises, which are considered an important tributary of economic and social development worldwide. It not only provides employment opportunities, but is also considered the main driver of more technological innovations, increased exports, and GDP growth. Therefore, it is considered the main engine of economic growth, as it relies heavily on local raw materials and has a great ability to spread geographically. Interest in the growth of the small and medium enterprises sector has become an economic and social priority sought by all developed and developing countries alike. Especially in light of the increasing need to create new job opportunities and combat poverty and unemployment, as well as the strong need for the importance of having a strong sector of small and medium enterprises that is able to face the challenges resulting from global political and economic developments. This is done by providing the necessary support of all kinds, confronting the challenges it faces, and proposing appropriate solutions.

The second study is entitled: “The Private Sector as a Key Driver for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab World,” as the Sustainable Development Goals, as set by the United Nations, represent the most ambitious plans in the world to enhance sustainability on planet Earth. These goals are particularly important in the Arab region given its unique economic and socio-political context. The private sector is considered one of the vital and dynamic engines in the pursuit of achieving these goals, as it includes a diverse group of companies and employs a large number of workers.

As for the third study, it is titled: “Rules of Origin...Theoretical Basis.” This study deals with the topic of developments taking place at the level of applying rules of origin in the Arab world and the obstacles that affect the reality of intra-Arab trade, based on the topic of “Rules of Origin.”

The fourth study is in English and is titled: “Resilient Global Economy Still Limping Along With Growing Divergences,” this study focuses on the reality of the Arab and global economies in 2023, and the challenges that the global economy will face in 2024 based on the developments taking place in the global political, security and economic scene.

The fifth study in English is entitled: “Greece and the Arab World, Embracing Change.” This study sheds light on the reality of trade, economic and investment relations between Arab countries and Greece, starting from the history of this relationship up to the current reality. The study also addresses the mechanisms for developing this relationship in various fields, especially in new economic sectors. Especially at the technological and digital levels, as well as financial and banking, in the field of renewable energy, and other areas of cooperation that serve to strengthen economic relations between the Arab and Greek sides.
