Arab Economic Review Issue 49

We are honored to publish issue (49) of the Arab Economic Bulletin for the first semester of 2021, which includes a group of distinguished studies in the field of global economy, Arab trade, intellectual property and maritime transport, in addition to atomic energy related to food safety and quality.

The first study explores "The global economic system after the Covid-19 pandemic and the challenges of the next stage for the Arab world" by identifying its new pillars in light of the pandemic's repercussions and effects on the global and Arab economies, in order to conclude the requirements for exiting the crisis.

The second study reviews the "Effects of the Corona epidemic on the tourism and travel sectors in the Arab world", which are the two sectors most affected by the "Covid-19" pandemic, as it deals with the impact of the spread of the pandemic on these two sectors, and also identifies the basic principles for re-launching growth and restoring the confidence of travelers and tourists based on the role Outstanding technology in this field.

The third study deals with the repercussions of the “Covid-19” pandemic on “Arab trade in the midst of a new world order entitled high risks”, by highlighting the results of the research issued by the Union of Arab Chambers entitled "Arab Trade between the Repercussions of the "Covid-19" Virus and Global and Regional Restrictions", which represents an analytical and forward-looking study of the conditions of foreign and intra-Arab trade and the obstacles it faces due to the severe repercussions of the "Covid-19" virus, as well as the existing and emerging structural obstacles and hurdles.

The fourth study examines the "Globalization and comprehensiveness of the intellectual property protection system related to trade: incentive or impediment to innovation and development in the Arab countries". The study aims to compare industrial countries and developing countries in terms of how protection has developed in the two groups and its effects, especially those related to patents. The study also deals with the positive and negative aspects of the TRIPS Agreement and the subsequent changes and repercussions, especially in the areas of public health, food security, and scientific research.

As for the fifth and sixth studies, on "Reflections on Maritime & Ports Cooperation Prospects between Egypt & Greece in the Face of COVID-19 Implications" and "Maritime Development, Opportunities & Future Potential", they deal with the issue of navigation and port development and the opportunities available within the framework of the growing cooperation between the Arab world and Greece.

The seventh study sheds light on the effective uses of atomic energy in the field of improving food safety and quality under the title "Overview of Nuclear & Related Technology Relevent to Food Safety & Quality".

We hope that these intellectual contributions will receive the attention they deserve from the business community and decision makers.
