The Deficit In The Libyan Balance Of Payments Worsened... And 52% Of Spending Is On Salaries

Libya's balance of payments deficit worsened during the first ten months of this year to $10.9 billion. Salaries reached 46.8 billion dinars (dollar = 4.85 dinars), equivalent to 52 percent of public spending.

According to data from the Central Bank of Libya, public revenues of 96.6 billion dinars, equivalent to 19.9 billion dollars, were recorded from the beginning of this year until October 31, and 83.6 billion dinars were spent, equivalent to 17.2 billion dollars, during the same period. As for the expenditures, they were distributed over four chapters and an exceptional budget for the Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company, where the expenditure on the first chapter (salaries) amounted to 43.7 billion dinars, representing 52.2 percent of the total public expenditure of 83.6 billion dinars.
