Engineer Ahmed Samir, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, revealed that China is one of Egypt's most important trade partners in the world, pointing out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries last year amounted to about 16 billion dollars.

During his participation in the activities celebrating the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, he stressed "the keenness of the Egyptian government during the current stage to find a balance in the trade balance between the two countries, by increasing Egyptian exports to China, and promoting the Egyptian product among the Chinese people."

He welcomed Egypt's invitation to join the BRICS membership starting next year, noting that "Egypt's accession to BRICS will contribute to increasing the rates of trade exchange and joint investments between Egypt and member countries, led by China, and give Egypt a real opportunity to share its development experience with the countries of the BRICS."
