The EU is moving to impose stricter rules on six major EU tech companies, with the aim of preventing them from abusing their dominant position in the market as the "controllers" of the digital economy. According to the European Commission, the measures will apply to Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Apple, and Meta, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, as well as Bitdance, the owner of the TikTok application."

These companies are no longer allowed to give preferential treatment in terms of classification to their services, and they can only combine information from any different sources through explicit user consent.
