Abdo Idris Elected President of the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture

Abdo Idris was elected President of the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, while Aideh Abu Ramadan was elected Vice President, Omar Abu Bakr was elected Treasurer and Dr. Samir Hazboun was elected Secretary.

The elections for the distribution of the positions of the Board of Directors of the Union were held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy under the supervision of Minister of Economy Khaled Al-Osaily, and in the presence of the former President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Omar Hashem, and the Director General of the Private Sector Unit, Ihab Hajj Yassin.

The Federation Council expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of National Economy, which exerted all its efforts to complete the electoral process in its various stages despite the difficulties and challenges, stressing the work to develop plans that would respond to the requirements of the development of the national economy.

The former President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Omar Hashem expressed his thanks and great appreciation to the Palestinian government and the Minister of National Economy for conducting the electoral process, which took place with professionalism and transparency, praising the staff of the Ministry of Economy and the General Federation in the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the judiciary in accomplishing this task, which will reflect positively on the performance of the Chambers of Commerce and the national economy.

The Elected President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Abdo Idris, stressed "moving forward in achieving our goals and vision towards developing and improving the performance of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, fulfilling the commitments we made to the members of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and completing the development process."

Idris is the President of the Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the second consecutive time he has won the presidency of the Council, and this is the first time that the President of the Hebron Chamber has won the presidency of the Federation since its establishment in 1989. Abu Ramadan is the head of the Gaza Chamber, Abu Bakr is the head of the Jenin Chamber, and Dr. Hazboun is the head of the Bethlehem Chamber.

The Federation of Palestinian Chambers enjoys, in accordance with the law, a legal personality that is financially and administratively independent, and is the national umbrella of the Palestinian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and represents the chambers and their affiliated members before official and non-official bodies locally and internationally. The Union also works to take care of the interests of its members, defend their rights, participate in the drafting, review and amendment of laws, regulations and procedures of an economic nature, which are related to facilitating the work of the Palestinian private sector, providing an enabling environment for investment, ensuring the performance of the private sector in a competitive environment based on best commercial norms and practices, in addition to raising the efficiency and capabilities of chambers of commerce and industry, developing and diversifying their services.
