Inflation in the Sultanate of Oman is around 2 percent

The Consumer Price Inflation Rate in the Sultanate of Oman during the month of December was about 1.98 percent, according to the data of the monthly survey of consumer prices issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

The data showed an increase in the prices of the main commodity groups such as the food and non-alcoholic beverages group by 5.4 percent, the restaurants and hotels group by 4.05 percent, and the health group with a percentage of 3.82 percent, and the group of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other types of fuel, with a percentage of 0.63 percent.

The communications group showed a decrease of 0.06 percent, while the tobacco group witnessed stability without any change. According to the data of the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, the price index for oils and fats increased by 19.49 percent, and the prices of milk, cheese, and eggs increased by 7.65 percent, the prices of fruits increased by 6.51 percent, the prices of non-alcoholic beverages by 5.43 percent, and the prices of bread and cereals by 5.10 percent.
