Economic Partnership between the Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman

The United Arab Emirates signed 16 joint cooperation agreements with the Sultanate of Oman, on the sidelines of the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Sultanate.

The agreements included the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Minerals in the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. In the field of cooperation on transportation and logistics, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, to establish a joint company to implement and operate a railway network, linking Sohar Port to the UAE national railway network.

A memorandum of understanding in the field of maritime transport was also signed between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. A memorandum of understanding in cooperation and investment in the fields of industry was signed between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Sultanate of Oman, and the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology in the UAE.

The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in the UAE also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of agricultural, livestock, fisheries, and food safety.

The two countries also signed projects and memoranda of understanding in higher education, media, and cooperation in exchanging information related to money laundering and terrorist financing, and others to extend a railway network line from Sohar port to Abu Dhabi, and projects related to securities and stock markets.
