Qatari Commercial Bank Deposits Increased by 1.2 percent

The value of the money supply in Qatar increased during the month of July by 10.6% to about 675 billion riyals (185.4 billion dollars) compared to the same month of 2021. The value of quasi-cash, including deposits of commercial banks, increased by 1.2 percent to 965 billion riyals annually.

According to the monthly bulletin issued by the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority, the assets of Islamic banks in Qatar decreased during July by 1.9 percent to the level of 533 billion riyals, compared to the previous month, and by 10.7 percent on an annual basis. The assets of conventional commercial banks also fell 1.5 percent on a monthly basis.

As for deposits, they decreased in Islamic banks by 1.5 percent on a monthly basis and amounted to 321.5 billion riyals, while they rose by 6.8 percent on an annual basis, compared to a decrease in deposits of conventional banks by 2.2 percent on a monthly basis. The monthly foreign currency reserves and liquidity of the Qatar Central Bank increased by 2.79 percent to 211.3 billion riyals, compared to 205.5 billion riyals in July 2021.
