The Rise in the Total Reserve Money in the Qatari Banking System

Qatar Central Bank data showed that the total reserve money in the banking system, by the end of 2021, reached a level of 102.5 billion riyals, compared to 101.2 billion riyals at the end of December 2020. Reserve money now constitutes 48.2 percent of the bank's cash reserves, which in December amounted to about 209.9 billion riyals.

Total net foreign assets with net domestic assets decreased by the end of December to 102.5 billion riyals, compared to 108.1 billion riyals last November.

The data showed the stability of the assets of the Qatar Central Bank with a limited decrease at the end of December to the level of 274.52 billion riyals, but it was at the level of 264.2 billion riyals a year ago in December 2020. The assets of the Qatar Central Bank at the end of December included 109.4 billion riyals of bonds and treasury bills in foreign currencies, compared to 105.8 billion riyals at the end of last November, and 26.14 billion riyals in balances with foreign banks compared to 29.81 billion riyals last November, and 12 .05 billion riyals of gold, an increase of 0.2 billion riyals compared to last November.
