The President of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) Ibrahim El-Araby, disclosed that preparations had begun to launch an Egyptian economic mission to Sierra Leone to discuss all aspects of bilateral and multilateral economic and investment cooperation with the business community in Sierra Leone.

This came during his meeting with the H.E. Samuel Ali Kargbo, Sierra Leonean ambassador to Egypt, in order to make arrangements for the Egyptian trade mission to Sierra Leone.

El-Araby stated that "the studies prepared by the Union of African Chambers (UACCIAP) revealed huge opportunities for future cooperation in addition to investment opportunities in the fields of mining, energy production, agricultural and livestock production, implementation and development of infrastructure, and the development and operation of ports and railways.” He stressed that "despite the growing trade relations between the two countries, the volume of intra-regional trade still does not reach the depth of political and social relations."

For his part, the Sierra Leonean ambassador affirmed his confidence in the capabilities of the Egyptian private sector to contribute to achieving economic growth in Sierra Leone in a manner that achieves the interests of all parties. Adding that "the experience of the Egyptian economic reform and rebuilding the state in record time is an inspiring experience and a model for the African continent."
