Inflation in Oman Declined 0.5 percent

The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman decreased by 0.5 percent in March compared to February, so that the general consumer price index by the end of March reached 104.8 points. The inflation rate in the Sultanate is witnessing a successive decline, as it decreased by 1.1 percent during the period from December 2020 to March 2021, compared to 0.37 percent between March 2020 and March 2021.

According to the National Center for Statistics and Information, the inflation rate decreased by the end of last March in most commodity groups. In the food and beverages group, the inflation rate decreased 1.1 percent compared to December 2020, and by 1.09 percent between March 2020 and March 2021, and by 0.52% between February and March 2021. Vegetables recorded the highest decline, amounting to 11.9 percent, and at the end of last March, they reached 89.5 points, while drinks recorded a rise in the inflation rate by 5.6 percent, to 127 points.
