The Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, pointed out that "the austerity plans that the state pursued allowed saving 10 billion dollars to the public treasury, in exchange for expectations of increasing exports of Algerian goods and products, especially to Africa."

Tebboune explained, "we were able to reduce the import bill by 10 billion dollars in 2020, through strict control, ending the era of inflating bills and increasing production. This is a real indication for the start of controlling our economy," noting that "Algeria saved 500 million dollars of wheat imports, to drop to $1.3 billion."

President Tebboune expected that the agriculture this year would achieve more than 25 billion dollars, which would contribute to opening the door for the export of agricultural products, adding that “we are heading to the African market and to Libya through land crossings, and we also expect to export 400 million dollars of medicines in 2021."

He also pointed out that "Algeria aspires to reach the figure of $5 billion from exports of goods and products, after the number of exports outside hydrocarbons (oil and gas) for 25 years remained below two billion dollars," noting that "it is expected to achieve a stability in the trade balance between exports and imports during Next year is 2022.
