Annual Inflation in Egypt is 4.8%

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed that the general consumer price index for the total of the Republic reached 110.2 points for the month of January 2021, recording a decrease of -0.4 percent from December 2020.

The Statistics Authority report attributed the most important reasons for this decline to the drop in the prices of the vegetable group by -20.4 percent, the ready-made clothing group by -0.1 percent, the transportation services group by -0.6 percent, and the hotel services group by -0.6 percent, despite the increase in the prices of the fruit group by 5.4%, and the meat and poultry group by 5.2%, due to the increase in the prices of the birds group by 10.3%, as the prices of white poultry increased by 13.4%, as a result of the increase in the prices of the dairy, cheese and eggs group by 0.6%, and also the rental group calculated for the dwelling increased by 0.3 percent.

The annual inflation rate for the entire republic recorded 4.8 percent for January 2021, compared to 6.8 percent during the same month of the previous year.
